Server setup and file management

Start the server

Open PowerShell in the qnote-vault-web folder and run:

.\start-server.ps1

Keep the window open. Open the address printed by the server, normally http://127.0.0.1:8799/auth/login. The default document folder is notes-vault next to the launcher. To choose a folder and port, run:

.\start-server.ps1 -Vault 'C:\My Notes' -Port 8799

The launcher keeps the account and settings in a dedicated .notes-server folder. Use the same data folder on later launches to keep your account.

Create the first admin account

On the first visit, enter an admin username and a password of at least 12 characters. Click Create account. The app has no preset admin password.

In the workspace, open More → Server to check or change the server address. The address field may be left empty when the page is served by the same server. Use More → Sign out when finished, then sign in with the account you created.

Upload and organize files

1. 01Select Vault root, then click Upload in the file list header.
2. 02Choose a PDF or QNote in the native file picker and click Open. On the tutorial computer, this button says Buka.
3. 03Click New folder and create Workshop. Create Projects at the vault root too.
4. 04Drag each uploaded file onto Workshop.
5. 05Drag Workshop onto Projects to move the folder and its files together.

Drag a folder onto Vault root to move it back. For a typed destination, right-click a folder and select Rename / move folder, then enter a path such as Projects/Workshop. An open document's path updates when you move it.
